Dinner options

Dining in

If you prefer to enjoy a few drinks with your dinner or don't feel like driving, there is always the option to eat in. The chalets have a complete kitchen and BBQ, so you can self-cater.

Alternatively, if you are staying over the weekend, why not make life easier and pre-order a BBQ pack from The Peak:

  • BBQ packs come with a range of marinated meats and delicious pre-made salads, to create your own alfresco meal. Choose from meat options such as chicken skewers in a teriyaki marinade, lamb chops with lemon and oregano, salmon with dill and lemon, rump steak or delicious gourmet sausages. Salads include Greek, baby spinach and coleslaw, or pre-marinated vegetables for the BBQ. Click here to view the current choices.

The BBQ packs are available from Thursday to Sunday evenings.

Dining out

Despite the remoteness of the location, there are several restaurants between 10-20 minutes drive that are just perfect for a special meal during your stay. Bookings can be arranged on your behalf.
• Ambermere Rose Inn – an original colonial inn that has been beautifully converted to a stylish upmarket restaurant in Little Hartley (only 10 minutes away)
• Alchemy Wood Fired Pizza - gourmet pizza café in Little Hartley. Great pizzas but (we hate to say this) totally forgettable service. Perhaps ring ahead and ask for takeaway? (11 minutes’ drive away)
• There are two more upmarket restaurants in Blackheath (20 minutes away) – Cinnabar Kitchen and Fumo (both of which are fantastic and highly recommended).

Advance booking is recommended for most of these restaurants.
Although there are not as many restaurants open midweek, we can recommend a few more casual places for dining or daytime excursions.

For more casual dining out, we can recommend a few cafes and restaurants, depending on the night of the week and your choice of cuisine.

Our other current faves:
The Piedmont Inn in Blackheath. Open Tuesday to Sunday, booking recommended. A casual, ambiant BYO restaurant that offers both North Italian inspired weekly specials and a large range of pizzas and pastas. Tel: 02 4787 7769.
Thai Silk Restaurant in Blackheath. Opens Wednesday to Monday, booking recommended. They have a new young chef who is amazing! This restaurant has the authentic look and good service, but the food is in a different league! BYO. Tel: 4787 6968.

The Dinner Menu

The Peak's Dinner Menu

From time to time, we offer special dinner dining in your chalet. Advance notice is required prior to booking your stay at The Peak as we can only offer this on limited Saturday nights each year.

Unlike dining in a restaurant, ingredients are sourced freshly and your meal is prepared exclusively for you on the day.

Courses are delivered to your chalet, one at a time. All you need to do is clear the table and open a bottle of wine while you wait. An exquisite experience and definitely worth planning ahead for!

Here is a recent sample to whet your appetite.

  • Asparagus sheaves wrapped in prosciutto served with a white bean salad.
  • A duo of Mediterranean bruschettas.
  • Smoked salmon with avocado cream rolls.
  • Roasted tomato and basil soup.
  • Caramelised pear, blue cheese and rocket salad.

Main courses

  • Braised pork shoulder in a creamy white wine sauce with sage and onions. Served with mash potato and steamed vegetables.
  • Mexican chili and lime chargrilled chicken. Served with warm tortillas, homemade guacamole, spicy beans, salsa and sour cream to make your own fajitas.
  • Niçoise salad with seared tuna. Tossed with green beans, chat potatoes, tomatoes, asparagus and hard-boiled egg. Served with crusty bread.
  • Greek style lamb, slow roasted on a bed of potatoes and beans, served with a Greek salad and a cucumber and mint yogurt.
  • Chargrilled Mediterranean vegetable stack, served with haloumi and a dollop of freshly made pesto.

  • Seasonal fruit platter served with honey yogurt.
  • Decadent chocolate tiramisu, layered with liqueur cherries and mascarpone on a coffee biscuit base.
  • Crepes Suzette. Thin pancakes, flambéed in a tangy citrus and brandy sauce.
  • Blackberry, apple and almond crumble served hot with dollop cream.

Price per couple, including a complimentary bottle of fine local wine:
2 courses: $190
3 courses: $240
