Dinner options

Dining in

If you prefer to enjoy a few drinks with your dinner or don't feel like driving, there is always the option to eat in. The chalets have a complete kitchen and BBQ, so you can self-cater.

Alternatively, if you are staying over the weekend, why not make life easier and pre-order a BBQ pack from The Peak:

  • BBQ packs come with a range of marinated meats and delicious pre-made salads, to create your own alfresco meal. Choose from meat options such as chicken breast fillets in a teriyaki marinade, lamb chops with lemon and oregano, salmon with dill and lemon, steak or delicious gourmet sausages. Salads include Greek, baby spinach and coleslaw, or pre-marinated vegetables for the BBQ. Click here to view the current choices.

The BBQ packs are usually available from Friday to Sunday evenings with advance notice. Please ask at the time of booking your stay.

Dining out

Despite the remoteness of the location, there are a couple of restaurants between 10-20 minutes drive that are just perfect for a special meal during your stay.
Please note that opening days and times are subject to change so please enquire directly with these restaurants. Advance booking is strongly recommended, especially given that fewer bookings are now allowed due to COVID restrictions.

Ambermere Inn - How lucky are we to have one of NSW's most atmospheric regional restaurants as our 'local'. Only 10 minutes away, this beautifully restored colonial inn, has ambiance galore, a great menu and wine list, plus, from Spring 2020 a new regional produce store.

Cinnabar Kitchen in Blackheath is loved by foodies and yet to disappoint. Great sharing menu and definitely recommended for a special occasion.

Although there are not as many restaurants open midweek, we can recommend a few more casual places for dining or daytime excursions.

For more casual dining out, we can recommend a few cafes and restaurants, depending on the night of the week and your choice of cuisine.

Our other current faves:

Alchemy Wood Fired Pizza - gourmet pizza café in Little Hartley. Great pizzas but (we hate to say this) the service is very often quite forgettable. Lovely outlook. (11 minutes’ drive away)

Blackheath Bar and Bistro in Blackheath. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 12pm to 10pm each day. Great atmosphere and a smart casual menu with boutique beers on tap. Live music on Saturday nights. Tel: 02 4787 5787.

The Piedmont Inn in Blackheath. Open Tuesday to Sunday, booking recommended. A casual, ambiant BYO restaurant that offers both North Italian inspired weekly specials and a large range of pizzas and pastas. Tel: 02 4787 7769.

Thai Silk Restaurant in Blackheath. Open Wednesday to Monday, booking recommended. This restaurant has the authentic look and good service, but the food is in a different league! BYO. Tel: 4787 6968.
